The Scary Prairie, or Kansas in Proper Focus
Photo Essay
The woman was terrified of the vast, open prairie. Something about the empty space created a feeling of dread. She kept having this fantasy nightmare of a menacing stranger on a motorcycle. The figure and his Harley were roaring down the gravel road in front of her fragile wood frame house, which on the infinite prairie was obvious, exposed and vulnerable. Just like her.

Adrianne Russell shares her fascinatino with art museums and the experience of seeing Seurat's A Sunday on La Grand Jette.
There is something about visual art that speaks to me on a near cellular level—inexplicably drawing me toward it and its creators. One of the reasons that made museum work appealing was the idea of being mere steps away from astonishing works of art on a daily basis.

While raw, Green's poems reveal his urgent need to express his voice through the rhythms of poetry.

Ultimately, this has led to a change in the context of the field, particularly in visual art museums.
