Priests of Pallas Ball 2007
A Night to Remember
The first Priests of Pallas celebration was in 1887, and for the next 25 years, it was the largest social event in the city organized by respected citizens and and hosted by the mysterious "Jackson." Priests of Pallas, paying homage to Pallas Athena, was a celebration of the autumnal harvest with a nod to Greek mythology.
Today, the proceeds benefit the Jackson County Historical Society and the Westport Historical Society. The tradition continued on October 26, 2007 at Union Station with masks, vivid costumes, an Asian-themed performance from Quixotic and Vesuvius Fire Dancers at Kansas City’s original harvest festival ball.
Photographer Phil Peterson captures the revelry with this series.
