Fine Musicians Perform at The Brick
Jenny Carr
Listen to music from featured artists of Midwest Maidens Music Night.
Missouri native Jenny Carr is what she plays...a simple melody. A missouri native, just as on the map, she lands smack dab in the middle of her influences from "The Nuge" to The Beatles and The Kinks, to Joni Mitchell, Elliott Smith, and The Cranberries. She's as diverse as her peach crate of vinyl.
"Talking to Myself" bubbles with reserves of energy infused with Carr's distinctive voice, melodic guitar, subdued beat, and electronic chirring in the background. There's enough texture in the rounded edges and flat surfaces of this deceptively light-sounding song to catch in the weave of daily affairs. Plucking the song out for another listen is like staring into the glow of amber in autumn sunlight.
Carr is one of the many remarkable talents performing locally that deserves much more attention from local music fans.

Nicolette Paige
Listen to music from featured artists of Midwest Maidens Music Night.
Nicolette Paige combines multiple genres of music from folk, rap, reggae, rock and the blues. Her eclectic style and lyrics of inspiration and reality reaches into the depths of our existence. She is a true Old Soul. Her music and messages tell true life stories about peace, struggles, love, and everyday life that connect with the young and old alike.
If Ani DiFranco, Jack Johnson, and the Indigo Girls commanded the stage at a world music lovefest, Paige would be the up-and-coming guest artist invited to come on stage and perform feel-good music with a thought-provoking message. And the crowd would dig it.
